What would cause trans to shudder in reverse?

so your thinking its the pump.....huh? can you explain a little more?
UPDATE!!! I pulled the pan and found a piece of metal in the bottom. its about 9/16" long and just a touch over a 1/8" thick. I will try to snap some pics of it. its aluminum and really looks like a tooth off of something.

well obviously it has something to do with the truck shuddering.......but you think its part of a piston? i am not up on exactly how the auto works i have a general understanding but am not a pro!

If its aluminum like you said ad from the first picture, I would guess its part of the direct apply piston or possibly the rear servo. Those are the two pieces that apply when reverse is engaged. Looks like it was broke off something.
The rear servo you can see by dropping the pan. The direct clutch means trans out and pump pulled.
Reverse jacks the pressure way high to hold so anything leaking will cause some problems. The direct clutch applys in drive also so if it feels sloppy or weird at all that would indicate it. The rear servo is a little harder as it only applys in reverse and manual first. Manual first may not show slip as it also has a one way clutch on it that is used in auto first.
If reverse is the only gear that shows any weird behaviour you could test it with a gauge to verify it is loosing pressure.
