If you stand on the drivers side looking into the engine compartment, and look at the side of the engine, there should be a plate or decal applied from Cummins that specifies which engine. I don't remember if it reads HP or Torque though. Do you have the window sticker from the dealer? Or, how about calling the dealer with the VIN and they should know. I'm thinking any service, or sales, department should know as it's still failry new.

I was looking into filters for mine and have read so many threads off different sites about filters, I decided to use Fleetguard. The service manager and mechanic of a Jeep dealer who is also a friend of mine strongly advised against Fram filters from experiance. Here is a link where I purchased my filters:http://www.scheiddiesel.com/filters.htm. And here is a link to Cummins for the filter numbers:http://www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/p...eram/parts.cfm. I bought a few oil, air and fuel filters so I would only pay shipping once for the next few service intervals. Hope this helps.

All 04.5+ trucks are the HO engine...
I second the comment on against FRAM filters. I have a buddy that put one on and hates it. I recommend FLEETGAURD as well. Any local big rig shop will carry them. or do what i did and ajpulley did and buy off the internet...

Oh ya, by the way, if you havn't changed your oil filter yourself yet, buy the93mm 15flute end wrench. It is well worth it. Bought mine through Snap-on, but can get it through others. Just so happens to fit the oil filter on my "87 XJ too!!

I'll third, forth, and fifth the "DON'T USE FRAM" comment. I have heard lots of horror stories about the filters failing and either stopping oil flow or letting all the junk through.

Use a real truck filter... Fleetguard or Donaldson

I'll echo the anti-Fram sentiment.

It doesn't matter which filter you use on your truck, because BOTH the SO and HO engines take the same filter.

Fleetgard # LF16035 for the fluted can, #LF3894 without the fluted end.

Both are the same power output.

I think the C is CARB compliant, where there are more OBDII monitors (and potential check engine lights).

I was told by my parts guy that he needed to know if it is a 6 or a C for the air filter , is their a difference and are all 600 's C's . This thread looks like it has all the making of another oil war so I will vote for Rotella and hope that settles it .
