What T-case?

I see all these posts about transmissions and engines and everything else but I've seen nothing on what T-case comes on these HD trucks. So do you get a 241HD or does it make a difference between the 2500/3500 or whether it has a gas or diesel?

TIA

Choices for '03 are 241, 271, 243, and 273. 243 & 273 are electronic shift. I don't know where they make the break from 241/243 to 271/273.

Re:What T-case?

I didnt think they were using the 241 series anymore on the 03's and up.

Since the power has been boosted I remember reading that they used a heavier duty T case now, is there anyone who can confirm this for sure?

Re:What T-case?

The NV-271 is used on 03+ trucks and the NV-273 is used on the Laramie models with the Electronic 4x4 engagement.

Both cases are identical except one is manual shift and the other is electronic. You can read the specs for it at http://www.newventuregear.com/tcases.html

Notice how is is rated for almost 8000lb ft torque!!! Talk about a beefy transfer case.

Also, here's a spec sheet for our trucks http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/specs.html

Re:What T-case?

No problem. Isn't it good knowing how much power our T-case will take? Now I'm not worried at all about running my truck in 4wd after I start bombing it. It's also amazing how hard you can launch our trucks in the rain with the 4wd engaged with no slippage.
