What repairs have you done and how many miles do you have?

I was just wondering how everyones truck is doing. So far mine has been great couldn't ask for more. I came up with all the repairs I have had to do since I bought my truck new. I am not counting oil changes and tires or fluid changes just hard parts that I have had to change. Please share yours as well.

I have 270,607 miles on my truck and here is what I have done to date:

1-Clutch, flywheel and pressure plate
4-U Joints
3-Front wheel bearings
1-Rear trans seal
2-Fan clutches
1-Clutch hydrolic system
2-Injectors
1-Idler pulley and belt

The funny thing is these repairs where done while I was on the road! I have never gotten to work on my truck at home[duhhh] Thanks to walmart parking lots I have a place to work on my truck HAHA[dummy] [dummy]

I think my truck has done very well giving the loads I pull and the hours it runs non stop in some cases. Well again share your stories!!

RedRacer44 06-23-2007 12:26 AM

At 70,500 miles...only replaced the lift pump which was covered under warranty. Other than that...the truck has been solid! Couldnt be happier!

Bought the truck with 23,000 on it in January of 2006...put some serious miles on it this year! But nothing like you...

Road Traveler 06-23-2007 12:33 AM

The funny thing is I really slowed down![duhhh] I havent done a lot of hauling in about the last 8mo. If so I would have been over the 300k mark by now!!

TexasCTD 06-23-2007 02:00 AM

I am at 70k now.

My stock stereo/cd player ate a cd and wouldn't give it back. It was replaced under warranty, but I since replaced it with an Alpine/Ipod combo. (much better![coffee] )

The front door weatherstrips were replaced with the new style since they were tearing where the door rubbed. No biggie...under warranty.

I now have a popping sound coming from underneath the front when turning. I think it is my track bar that needs a bushing or either a replacement track bar.

No other problems. I have even pulled a GCVWR of 26,000lbs with my Smarty on level 9 with my trans still stock.[duhhh]

I have upgraded/added other stuff to my truck as listed in my signature, but none of it was because of a failed part.

carpenterje 06-23-2007 07:48 AM

I got 22,500 miles on my truck now, my repairs have been:

-Transmission rebuilt
-Output bearing on transfer case
-Gear selector lever cable & parking paw
-2 Back windows replaced due to leaking
-Cab repainted (dealership scratched it)
-Dash removed to fix air vent that fell apart
-A/C lines replaced due to blockage
-Lost count on how many times check engine light has come on

RAMRODD 06-23-2007 08:11 AM

At 30,000 upgraded to a South Bend DD.
Pull all the time and no other repairs. [coffee]

2003Ram 06-23-2007 09:57 AM

Guess you got a Friday truck.

2003Ram 06-23-2007 10:00 AM

I'm at the four year mark. I had the tranny cooler line recall performed early on and just recently replaced a brake lamp.

Dan_K 06-23-2007 10:02 AM

2005 Ram 3500 SRW 62000 miles.
Replace door weatherstrip.
Replace plastic intercooler-blew a hole in it.
Tighten banjo bolt on fuel rail-complaint of raw diesel smell.
Replace 1 injector.

I have complained several times about the time it takes for the cab heat to warm up, and when it does warm up it's not very hot. They say that this is standard. I have to drive 5 miles before the widshield will even start to defrost.

That is true. I have a 20 mile commute and my truck won't blow hot air until I'm half way there.

I did buy a cheap 12v plug in heater to help with in-cab warm up time.

I have only 16K on my truck - nothing has been repaired - no problems. Not bad for a FRIDAY truck !!!! I had 2 recalls - tank vent and anti-lock brake module replacement - done at the same time, neither was a problem at the time they were done but could have been down line. Everything is working to perfection, nice cold A/C, heater is TOO hot to run on high. No complaints, great truck.

Wow that is what I was really wondering! I still have the original brakes!! They dont make any noise and still stop great. I looked at the pads when I changed my wheel bearings and they still look great!

I really figured I would have changed them by now!

eddiebob 06-23-2007 01:59 PM

40,000 miles on my '05. The only thing I have had to do to it was replace the drivers side weather seal. Ed B

slowwheelin 06-23-2007 06:30 PM

44,000 Miles

Diver door weather strip
2ea sepentine belts ( 1st at 30,000 or so 2nd one at 42,000)
drive shaft center bearing, caused by bad u-joint
1ea U-joint on rear drive shaft just changed

wexman 06-23-2007 06:38 PM

Truck purchased 3/31/04; I have about 32,000 miles now.

1. 5400 miles (8/13/04): stock belt shredded, no apparent reason, dealer replaced, but require a tow. If that were to happen now (or again) I would have the belt chirp TSB done, which didn't exist at the time

2. 19,000 miles (12/05): CP3 pump started leaking. Took a month for the replacement pump to come in, no problems since

Replaced the stock Americra...I mean General Ameritracs with GY Wrangler GSAs this past December.

That's it, except for regular service, etc.

Bikehauler 06-23-2007 06:40 PM

Absolutely did. The tranny and the U-joints were from heavy towing, but the rest I can't see attributing to operator abuse. I learned my lesson not to buy the first year of a new model. [dummy]

Oh yeah, forgot transfer case seals twice, tranny and oil cooler lines, and tranny cooler.... sigh :(

Black SunShine 04 06-23-2007 07:05 PM

I have 52,000 miles with no major repairs, I need to do my balljoints and the only 2 things other then that is the door seals and cab lights leaked. I love my truck and if you take care of them they'll take care of you in the long run.

new2ctd 06-23-2007 07:13 PM

What were the symptoms on your “output bearing on transfer case” when it was going out? My truck has a lot of play in the drive train and needs to go in.

Just under 70k with the following repairs:

- A/C recharged (But they said there were no leaks)
- passenger mirror (lots of vibration)
- I’m not what it’s called…clutch/master slave or something like that?
- brakes will be done soon

dale29 06-24-2007 12:35 AM

Stew130 06-24-2007 11:00 AM

63K
replaced:
drive's door latch assembly
flash for white smoke
not chrysler's fault but i just had some yellow paint removed from the passenger side of my grey truck [yuk] the local garbage company had a truck that had a can of yellow paint leaking and i ran through it. 5 hours with a clay bar and a little buffing after that and it looks like new. even got it off my step bars. i told the guy at the shop that i should have had him do the driver's side too because now the right side looks better than the left...
no other problems. as a matter of fact, I'm still running the original tires but when they do get replaced the wife better keep close tabs on the check book :)

DodgeCTD 06-24-2007 11:43 AM

22k miles..

2 clutch fan wires...my fault i went through deep water and i believe the water pushed the wire into the fan blade..need a new front bumper and a tail gate...also my fault for takin my truck mud riding...basically no problems i did that stuff to it myself. The truck is great

Driving down the road between 40-70 MPH I got a whining noise from under the floor board, sounded like my front end was running with no gear oil in it for along time.

SlowJeep 06-24-2007 01:44 PM

Only have about 17,000 on my '06 2500.
Replaced the shocks after the fronts blew out with less that 5000 miles on 'em.
Everything else has been solid and problem free so far.

swansong04 06-24-2007 06:32 PM

82000 km (50840 miles)
-both drivers and passenger weather stripping
-some sort of washer on the fuel rail.. fuel pressure sensor (started smelling like diesel under the hood)
-steering box (under warranty )
-drivers side front axle u-joint (under warranty)

seems to be a common thing with theses trucks front ends ... they kinda suck !![yuk]
