What now?

I have a 2005 Dodge 3500 all stock except for a muffler delete. Truck has 282,000 miles on it and has pulled a 3 car trailer since I purchased it used with 52,000 miles. About six months ago it had and episode where it had a tremendous amount of blowby that lasted for a day, about 600 miles, then resolved itself. this happened a couple of times within a couple of weeks but for a much shorter period, hour or two, but has not happened recently. Now I have an issue with oil consumption. This also comes and goes. Sometimes 2 quarts in 1000 miles and on the last leg of my last trip 4 quarts in 300 miles. This is without blowby from road tube or oil fill cap. While driving it to my neighbor/mechanic I could see blue smoke out the tailpipe while coasting which went away on acceleration. Original reason truck was going to mechanic was a cracked manifold. Exhaust ports were dry but sooty, but turbo elbow was oilly when down tube was removed. everything dry on intake side. Mechanic installed rebuild kit in turbo ( he just put a kit in, have no idea if this fixed anything). Picked truck up and still has smoke on deceleration and will really put out blue soke if allowed to idle for a little while which lasts for about a mile when you drive. Looking for some opinions and some direction. Truck still stsrts and drives normally. Thanks

Hard to really know for sure since you say it comes and goes, but oil on the exhaust side of things is normally an indication of possible cracked rings. My dads old Mack had the rings break in the #6 hole.....I've never seen oil actually shoot out the exhaust pipe before.....what a mess....needless to say, we had to in-frame it. Hopefully your's isn't that bad and you can get it straightened out.
