Looking at a 2003 CTD quad cab short bed 2wd 5sp, 75k miles tomarrow.

what issues does this model have?

I have 55k miles on one in 4wd drive; a driver's side visor needed replacement, and had water leaking into the cab on the passenger side after about 30k miles, both covered under warranty.

 

It's gonna be a little low on power since it's an SO. If you really want the truck then tell them you would rather get an HO but you will take it if you get a great deal!!

 

There were a couple of tsb's that applied to my '03: the alternator bracket cracking (mine is original and still fine) and the CO2 cruise control safety recall.

My truck's been good to me.

 

5 sp SO 4X4 had a front U joint replaced(no worries for you) at somewhere around 40,000 miles and a leaking powers steering box. Other than that it gets 18 miles to the gallon all the time. It has 4:10 so it always seems like it needs an extra gear.

 

03 with 37K and no problems at all. TST on 2-2 and F1 Don M injectors and she will tow with the best of them. Get 21 plus empty and 16.5 towing 30 ft. 5er.

 

Just got back from seeing the 03 CTD... seller didn't tell me CTD had a rebuilt title and truck pulled to left. this is after asking if there is anything wrong with vehicle and anything I should know. and knowing I would have to drive in 75 miles....

spend 3+ hours reading back posts last night.

seems 03 and early 04 with HO 6sp are pretty disirable w/o cat. found ratio differance between 5sp and 6sp. along with beefier 6sp comes hard to get parts and folks waiting for new 6sp trannys.
