I have a 2006 diesel with the 4 spd auto tranny and was wondering if I can stay in overdrive when towing. My boat weighs around 3,500 lbs with the trailer and gear. Can I stay in 4th or should I be in 3rd. Thanks.

I tow my 10,000 lb. travel trailer in overdrive unless it starts doing a lot of shifting and hunting for the right gear.

 

Leave it in 4th. At that weight, you won't even know it is back there!

 

Just engage the tow/haul mode and it should be fine.
