Unhappy What da?

Just when I become convinced I landed the best truck D&C ever built.........
I'm heading back up the mountain from serving some time in the 100+ degrees of Denver and when I go to launch easily away from a light, I feel what I think of as a stumble. The sensations was the same as a gasser that is jetted way too rich. It got moving and for the next 15 to 20 miles there was no problem. I stopped to pick up the mail, and when I was coming back on the hwy. a car appeared coming around the bend, and I had to jump on it just slightly....no problem and I just scooted out of the way. The real problem appeared when I went to pull into the garage. I was sitting on a fairly steep grade, and when I gave it some throttle, nothing happened. I all but matted it, and NOTHING! I had to put it in 4WD low to get it to move.
There are 64K on the truck, I just installed a new NAPA Gold air and fuel filter yesterday, and the ambient temp at the light was 79 deg. F, and 77 deg. F at the house.
Also, when I left the light, I buried a couple of cars in some very heavy smoke. I did have my TS on maybe 25%, but it was way out of the norm, even for that altitude.
Only thing I can think to do at this point is to unplug the fueling box and see if the situation occurs then.

A bit more info...the EGTs, boost, and all dash gauges looked normal.
Help!

when you say you matted the throttle and it didnt move, does that mean no increase in rpm, or the revs went up, but no foward motion?

D'Zilla,
Thanks for asking.
Nothing......no revs, no change in sound, no nothing, until I dropped it in low range. It is def. a lack of power and not something like the throttle, because when I tried it on a lesser grade, it moved, but as if it was putting out about 50 hp. No slippage. Normally, it would have been throwing stones and diggin trenches.
Thanks again for asking,
Mike

sounds like you throttle position sensor is toast. dodge put them in 2 locations in 04. on your truck it is either under the drivers side battery, covered by a little black plastic cover. or under the dash connected to the pedal. make sure the connector didnt wiggle out or loose.

are there any codes?

D'Zilla,
funny you should ask on the codes....I woke up this morning...hmm, actually yesterday morning thinking "Hey, I'll check for codes". Did so, and there were none.
I had pretty much ruled out anything to do with the throttle, but since you mentioned it could be under the left side battery.....that is where I was clanging and banging around with a long wrench to change the fuel filter the previous day! I will have a look Fri. morning. Sure would be a treat if I just knocked something loose with my ham-fist. I hate the idea of taking it into the dealer!
Gonna have to look up Poulsbo on a map. Just spent a couple of days at the Pacific Raceway by Kent, and then camped around the Olympic Peninsula for the rest of the week. Beautiful country! Thanks for sharing your knowlege! Mike
