what clutch for 06
what clutch for 06
I'm getting ready to get a new clutch for my 06. For the most part its going to be my daily driver but during the summer and fall I haul hay on the farm. Alot of times its over 20K. For the moment its just the jr but i'm planning on going somewhere between 450-500hp.
I've looked at both SB and Valair. Right now i'm leaning towards the Valair DD organic. I need to try to keep the engagement as smooth as possible.
Do you think this would be my best option? I would like to hear other recommendations if you've got them. Please only suggestions and no bashing.
Thanks

Friend of mine upgraded his '07 to a Valair, single disk (organic face), I believe, and that thing engages and shifts like stock and still pulls very well.

Just got the South Bend Dual Friction Dual Disc with the upgraded hydros. So it has the organic on the flywheel/pressure plate sides and the ceramic on the inside against the floater plate.
The engagement is like stock, hooks like crazy, lighter pedal than my South Bend Fe single disc which had the worse engagement (survived living with it for 105k miles).

Thank you.
the g56 has a aluminum case that transmits noise like a horn, that is why they tried the dmf but the dmf is a pos and can ruin the g56. all of the solid flywheel kits are going to be noisey. we run a fleet of 06 g56's there is several things that helps first when you pull the g56 check the front seal, nearly every one the dmf has damaged it and will seep next the red boot on top is or will crack. replace it with a moose atv boot M9206801 or a Dorman #614-002 universal fit, silicon rubber CV boot. install the second boot and place carpet padding between the second and third boot. get one gallon of synthetic syncromesh sae50 transmission fluid and ane gallon of 5w-30 synthetic syncromesh transmission fluid. mix them and put 7 quarts in the g56 this is one quart over full, pour it in the top. this will reduce noise and extend life if the g56. the 7th quart is a must to cool and lube the front bearing this lube gives the lowest temp thus giving the least expansion of the case, consider trans-cool from genosgarage.com and use the last quart. a fluidamper helps also
The pedal is lighter than the Fe and its been a long time since I had a stock clutch pedal but from what I remember it very very very close to stock. As for the hooks like crazy, I mean it doesnt slip with all of the toys on tilt but it's smooth.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Hadn't heard the info on the seal yet. I'll make sure to check it out.
I already changed the fluid when i got the truck to syncromesh(7 quarts).
To get the seventh in i found it easy to first put six in using a tube on the bottles. Then put the plug in hand tight and then pull both right tires up on ramps. Take the plug out, put the 7th in the same way as the first six.

The Valair DD Organic works well for my heavy(10,500 all the time) 3500 commuting 120/day round trip plus service calls adding around 30/day. Where it acts up is in-town in heavy traffic; it doesn't like heat. It tends to stick and fail to disengage fully. May just be an adjustment issue but this is even with near-zero free play. But it DOES hook up well.
