What changes did Dodge do from 03 to 06

I had a 03 HO cummin it got 21-26 mpg done by hand. Well i wrecked the pu and my first choise was another dodge. But now i'm wishing i got a GM diesel. The 06 is getting 11.6-13.5 mpg, i've put air filter,ez and now smarty with no inprovement in milage. Anyone tell that happen, why is the milage soo bad.

My 06 is now getting 16.5-17.5 city/hwy combo 30%/70% hwy since having more miles and the reflash. I hit 18.2 on my fillup today, the driving consisted of 65-70 mph Hwy and a few hard take offs in town. Hopefully your mileage will increase in time. I have had my truck since new and my worst tank to date was 15.2 and that was the first one. The reflash added 2mpg's and for some reason makes my tranny shift smoother.

03-04 trucks got better fuel mileage due to no third injection event. 04.5-07 all have the third injection event and as for reason get worse mileage than the 03-04. Thank your EPA for that
