What box to tow with?

I have a 2004.5 ram cummins. I tow a 8000lb trailer empty (34 foot). Loaded it will be about 9-10000lbs. Im stock now. in spring im getting a afe stage 2 intake and deleting my cat. What box would suit me for towing? (i dont want street racer performance just mileage gains and towing help)?

Tow stock so you don't have to worry about breaking or melting anything. You don't need to be racing around with a 10,000# trailer anyway.

What Box to Tow With

I tow a 14,000 lb Fifth Wheel with a 2003 Dodge Cummins HO, 305 hp, 48RE trans, and 3:73 rear end. I've added a K&N air filter, 4" pipes and an Edge Attitude. Upped the horse power and torque (dyno 445 at 700) on level 5. I tow at level 2 which gives approx. 345 hp. Increased my fuel mileage and love the performance. I've towed across the Rockies, Sierra Nevada and to Alaska.

Just keep your eye on the EGT gauge. It's been equipped this way for nearly 3 years. No problems. Usually tow about 70 to 75 except when in the mountains.

I'd run the smarty. I've had the tst, edge juice(hot and standard), ts ramifier, banks 6gun w/spd loader, edge ez. The only one that gives smooth usable power is the smarty. Towing a 11,000lb. enclosed, stock air box/filter, straight piped, 22.5" wheels, on level 6, hammer down i'll never see past 1400* no matter where I am. EGT's are super easy to control, never have to back out of it because of egt's.

I have been towing with the Quad XZT now for 2 years. Just upgraded to the X2 XZT. Good box for towing and mileage.

VA C3.2 works well if you keep it on the 2nd level and keep the RPMs in the
2k range. The most I've towed that way is about 8k. So far no problems at all. But this box has no low end power.

Edge Juice has a setting for towing.. Most times stock will do everything you need. In all honesty a box WILL eat a clutch when towing..
