Dodge is aware of the problem. They have a couple of trucks at one of their venders for testing. A fix is in the works and a tsb should be out in under two weeks. I have talked with the engineer on the project about the vibration, they have isolated it. They have a meeting friday the 7th. At that point they hope to issue a tsb.

I will sure look forward to seeing that TSB and the proposed resolution. I have lived with the 70-75 mph vibe for 30k miles. I am certainly interested in finding out what causes it.

Re:vibration at highway speeds
Well I was told that it was the ID tag on the frame by the passenger side of the radiator! So I toke the light assembly off and put the other 2 rivets in the corners othe tag.D/C is going to save money somehow so they just used 2 rivets instead of 4,anyway tried it out the vibs were gone for awhile back now but not as bad may ned to check the plate again try this if it works post for the rest of us thanks

Re:vibration at highway speeds
i still feel there is something linked between the a/c compressor cycling and that 2100 rpm range that is setting up some type of harmonic vibration. since summer left so has my vibration!

Re:vibration at highway speeds
I just bought my 03 HO 6speed 4x4 with 47k miles ,,I was not happy at all with the 2000rpm vibs in the steering wheel ,,I took some zip ties and and sucured the 2 hyrdo boost lines to the + and - batt terminals and tied them up real tight... THis made a big difference on the vibs I feel in the steering wheel,,It helped alot,,,

Re:vibration at highway speeds
just to make shure...the boost lines are on the drivers side running fwd???? if those are the ones i can see where that would be a problem because mine were very loose and hitting part of the inner cooler..............i will try it out tommorrow.........ps please answer and let me know if i have the right two lines....thanks

Do the '04s have this same problem? Mine will be in the 20th.

Mine has the vibration, I've got 11000 kms. I'll live with it if thats all thats wrong. The truck is great.

Re:vibration at highway speeds
I was told the TSB to be released next week is a new p/s line,I ordered it ;D,and had it put on my truck yesterday. It seems to have helped but not eliminated the vibration. In all fairness though this is my 1st diesel,so I'd really like to drive one that doesn't have the vibration to know what's normal and what's not.And I've only driven the truck about 40 miles since it was installed and 1/2 of that was through the infamous So Cal traffic,(a little hard to get to the vibration rpm range at 15-30 mph on the freeway).I'll report further findings after driving it more this weekend. ???

The hydro boost lines are about 3/4", dia and there is two of them...They are black in color, they run along side the drivers side battery,,

Re:vibration at highway speeds
The fix that seems to work is to put the other 2 rivets in the metal tag on the right side of the radiator post. you will still have a silght vib at 2000 but no were as bad as before try it you have to remove the right light assembly to get at it the ac is setting up the vibes but it seems that the corners of the tag are causeing the steering wheel vibs and most of the noise I don't have the vibs in the steering wheel anymore!

Re:vibration at highway speeds
The TSB is not ready yet. The company doing the testing is American Axle MFG 800-299-2953. The vibration is coming from normal diesel harmonics and the transfer case exciteing the rear driveshaft. The trucks come with a 85 Megahertz dampner with a 34 spline slipe yoke on the driveshaft. The fix for the vibration is belived to be a 385 Megahertz dampner with 34 splines. AAM wanted the 385 dampner on the truck at production, DC went with the small one. The slow down is this, their is no part number on the shelf for a 385 MGH 34 spline dampner. How long, who knows. I think thay need our help. Remember the squeeky wheel gets the grease. Call !!!!!!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

Re:vibration at highway speeds
The American axle explanation is the most sensible I have ever heard. The two rivet cure is a joke at best from a practical standpoint and I even tried it out of desperation and the other cures that seem to be such a stretch. I wonder at times if we have a DC plant in here to keep us from focusing! I plan on calling the 800number and start asking questions. If this is the purported cause I will ask where I can get one made. I hope the rest of the vibration effected parties do as well. What a great truck and what a shame to have this affliction. This has to be causing DC some big sales so glad to see there seems to be some continued movement.
