spoke with my "new" dealer a few minutes ago.......
they had a new injector pump shipped in from california...appearantly all the injectors tested fine. but a seal failed on the pump, which allowed the oil to flow behind the timing cover and into the crankcase, that diluted the oil, which caused the turbo to fail........
i still don't know why or how the smoke was coming out the tailpipe.......and the service writer is going to ask the tech about it to get me a explanation.
also, they said there is an oil leak from the truck that they are trying to diagnose....they think that the pressure from the fuel pump going into the crankcase was too much from an oil seal or gasket or something...
any thoughts on this? or any ideas about the smoke from the tailpipe,,,,,it was grayish white in color, did not notice any blue or black to it.
thanks, chris

so far it looks like it wont be me
won't know for sure until i get the truck in my posession, but up to this point they are footing the bill.
i had to pull some strings here and there, and get some referals from "friends" in the business.......however, i approached the dealer wih 100% honesty about what equi[pment was installed on the truck, and how it has been used, etc.

ANOTHER UPDATE:
the new turbo is being shipped either today or monday, i should have the truck back by the middle of next week. the technician had to mic the play, and let chrysler know how much play was in it.
the scenario looks like this...
injector pump seal failure allowed fuel to go into the crankcase from behind the timing cover....the oil got diluted with fuel which resulted in a low oil pressure reading, and over flowing out the vent tube......the oil going to the turbo was thinned out, and allowed the turbo to burn up the bearing seals, which allowed the oil being pumped into the turbo to get into the combustion chamber, which explains my smoke...
knowing the situation.......what are the likely causes for pump seal failure???
thanks, chris

i have a strong feeling that the edge is the cause.
as i understand the edge increases the fuel pressure, and maybe it is too much for the seals to handle.
all i know is my edge is sold, and i will not be buying another......maybe i will try another box, that does not affect the pressure.

posted it for sale thursday evening.it sold friday morning.......
i loved having it on there, made a big difference to me in driveability of the truck, actually made it fun
but, i don't feel like risking it anymore.
