Ujoint PN check, ASAP!
Ujoint PN check, ASAP!
My rear DS U-joint looks pretty bad, I picked up a Precision 330A, just double checking to make sure its the right one before I pull the DS out, wont be able to get another one if its not right
The dude up at Napa didnt have a current book and had NO part numbers for 05s~, only had part numbers for the front drive shaft...

ALSO, do these require removing both caps? just like any other U-joint swap?
Or do you only need to remove one side to get them in?

I had to take a grinder and remove about 1/16 - 1/8" more of the "chamfer" and grind the old u-joint body for clearance. I too found this out the hard way like you. I did however find that the NEAPCO brand u-joints were not an exact fit like Quad 4x4 states. They are about .010" wider each way and I could not get my circlips installed. So I ground off about .005" off each circlip and re-installed so the joint would be "centered" in the shaft. Good luck with whatever trick you come up with, I just didn't want that much pressure on the circlips as they were "bulged" way out of shape when I tried to install without grinding them. You could also grind the outside of the caps if you want, I just didn't want to take them back out.
