What I was told was that the suppler had them on national back order but I never thought of asking if he did a dealer search . I have found the truth is a hard thing to come by at most dealers and I will check another dealer today to see if what he said is reliable . They may have done a recall after so many failures to find out the problem , time to do some research on it I guess . In my case I do not think it was a shock cooling problem more likely a defective part . Most turbo's are rated for around 400,000 so there is a problem some were . I was thinking it was caused by the injector failure but now I have my doubts , the diesel fuel should set for the most part on top of the oil above the sump and not be pumped I would think . I could be wrong here to , oil does mix with oil . Most dealers can do a better job if you can motivate them in some way , finding out how is the problem .

I called another dealer and got the same answer , national backorder , they did a dealer search and came up with zero . This means they either had a recall on all 4.5 turbo's or they had a big run on them , maybe because of the heat . No one seems to know right now and the word is it may be awhile . The news seems to get worse and worse , I hope they are wrong . The computer has a list of two different turbo's for my year and one is available and one is not and with my luck even on a 50 50 chance I lost .

Hmm. Maybe I shouldnt complain so much about my 16 day wait. Interesting thing was that the replacement turbo looked "different" from my original. I posted a picture and the guys pointed out that it was probably a 4" outlet compaired with the original 3 1/2" and the clamps were all backwards from the original install. Runs, so I cant complain but really, you would think the dealer would keep one on hand since it does seem to be a more common problem than originally thought.

I would like to know if the national back order is from defective stock or high demand . With all the failures at low mileage I tend to lean towards defective stock and Dodge hoping most will get out of warranty . All I know now is I wait and wait and hope it will not be much longer . With the calls to other dealers I came up with all kinds of different time frames , from end of month to longer . My dealer is thinking the end of next week , which at the time set up panic , but after all my calls it may even be unrealistic . I find it sad the way Dodge is taking care of it's costumers , there is no excuse for this . We all tend to blame the dealer in most cases for our problems , but this appears to be the manufacture and a clear sign of how they feel about the people who support them .

I agree. If nothing else, they could have pulled some new ones off of the assembly line to take care of the older customers. Course the 07 turbos probably wouldnt fit or something. The tag on the rebuilt one that they put in my truck showed it had been rebuilt three days before it arrived at the dealers. Cant remember where it was rebuilt at though.

Thanks , I never even thought about trying a Cummins shop for service . The kicker is I have one about 3 miles from my house and I would not even have had a tow bill . I will give them a call Monday and see what they have to say .

You would almost think that the Cummins shop could do warranty work for the CTD in the Dodge's. Wishful thinking probably.

Update- Still no turbo and it looks like we will be going into week 3 this is just plain stupid . How a company can leave a person hang like this beyond me , an engine change would have been done before this . I can't imagine if this happened on the road , this is crazy !

Chrysler shipped it Tuesday , they must have used pony express , I got told today that it may be in next Tuesday . How a company can make you wait over two weeks before they ship a part and then not overnight it is just unbelievable . This is the third time I have had amazingly poor service with this truck and sadly must say this is my last Dodge . I can no longer support a company that cares so little for it's costumers . My friends with Fords and Chevy's have all had more problems but my truck has spent way more time out of service and frankly it is embarrassing .

It is called "Corporate America", sad to say but most all companies care about today is the “Bottom Line” Customer service is a thing of the past in most business today.

Just put a post someplace else talking about how the Chevy dealer in CA has badley treated my 78 year old father with his lemon trucks. Guess its not just Dodge. But, I cant believe your dealer didnt tell Dodge how long you had been waiting.
The tag on the turbo that my dealer replaced showed it had been rebuilt just three days before it arrived in Kenai Alaska. There is no reason they couldnt get one to OH in that time.

Your right about that , Dodge , Ford And Chevy are all doing the same thing to there customers . I retired out of Ford and watched junk roll down the line for years and stopped driving them after a purchase of a Bronco II . I put three transmissions in that thing before 50,000 miles and traded it in on a Dodge Cummins , after driving it 13 years with little trouble I purchased another . It amazes me how far down a company can fall in a few short years when the bean counters take over and the customer is forgotten after the sale . I have never driven an import , but the people who do I know seem to be happy with them . That is a direction I hate to go in but with the decline of the American auto industry I maybe force to in the future .
There saying the middle of next week on my turbo , maybe . They do know it has been shipped and think it is in a warehouse some were .
