turbo question?

Ok, I was at a job the other day and heard yet another truck with the turbo screaming like a whistling jet. I've noticed that its always a ford. I'm new to owning a deisel and trying to learn more everyday. Right now its stock but was wondering if its the silencer ring i'm hearing about? Is this something i can take out myself or is there more to that than i realize? Was thinking about also if anybody knows where to get a muffler eliminator pipe? I would get a new exhaust but dont have the extra cash right now and would like a bit more sound. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Genos garage for the pipe, or go to a muffler shop and get it done, However if you do a muffler delete, cat delete and a nice ss tip like I have, it wouldnt cost much more to go ahead and get the shopdiesel.com 5" turbo back exhaust, 295 shipped.

Do a search on the silencer ring, I couldnt tell much differance but its easy to do, there are pics of it on here, a decent intake such as an AEM brute force-silener ring+no muffler or cat = loud exhaust and screamin turbo

The fords also have a VG turbo, and they make noise from an idle, where as the Cummins have turbo lag till about 1300 rpm's. (don't quote me on that...)

Yeah, the Fords are loud because of the variable vane turbo. My brother's F-350 is a whole lot louder than my truck.

Geno's is a great place to buy, BUT their muffler delete pipe is overpriced.
RPM have the same pipe for about $ 43.00, free shipping, but a $9.00 handling charge?
The truck sounds great, I will ride with the rear slider window open some times just to enjoy.
Look at my sig and see the other "passive" mods. Most you can do yourself and quite economically.
