Question Turbo number 4

OK NOW I REALLY LIKE MY 2006 DODGE RAM 3500 MEGA CAB 4X4 5.9. BUT COME ON NOW FOUR TURBOS IN 69000 MILES. AND IT ALWAYS SEEM TO BE THE WASTE GATE. THEY WERE ALL COVER UNDER WARRANTY. BUT I AM GETTING CLOSE TO THAT 100000 MILE MARK. DEALER SAID THEY HAD A PROBLEMS WITH THE 2004s BUT THEY HAVE FIX THAT. FUNNY THING IS I HAD A 2004 AND DID NOT HAVE ONE PROBLEM. THE TURBO ON MY 2006 USUALLY GO EVERY OTHER YEAR OR SO. SAME WAY STEP IT DOWN TO PASS NO POWER JUST BLACK SMOKE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. OVER BOOST. BLACK SMOKE IS NOT COOL WITHOUT POWER. SO IF ANYONE HAS ANYTHING ABOUT MY PROBLEM FEEL FREE TO VOICE OPINION OR KNOWLEDGE. THANKS

Never heard of this issue before. You are the first. The wastegate solenoid will go out, not many people have had that problem. What kind of air filter do you have? What oil do you run? Do you let the truck cool off a bit after a good run. I normally shut mine down when the EGT's get down to 350 deg.

Had the AEM cold air filter on when the first one went bad.and that was at 24000 miles. Stock filter has been back on ever since. I always have the dealer change the oil. Cool down somewhat but not all the time. The truck is all stock.

Knowing that the dealers can use any cheap oil & oil filters they want for oil changes, I don't not trust the oil they use. Also make sure that you cool down the turbo for at least 3-5 minutes in the summer before you turn off the engine. BTW were the replacement turbos new or rebuilt as rebuilt are only as good as the person doing the rebuild.

I'm with him, dealer messed something up. Free though, but still a pain.

I wonder if they just put a rebuild kit in it each time ( billed Dodge for a new one) and the person doing the work knows very little on how to properly rebuild a Turbo.

Sounds like you need to source a competent dealership....
4 turbos on one engine should have thrown flags to Dodge Warranty. The wastegate fails on it every time?
The intercooler should also be checked for pressure differential. But usually that ends up causing shaft breakage..

I got my truck they say it is a new one. But i am not such the housing looks re-blasted. Truck runs great but still have a funny noise hum on the driver side of the engine. Sometimes i even get a vac or a whoosh sound on a gradual speed up, and speed down from around 70mph the 55 mph. I am pretty sure i know what the turbo sounds like and that sounds way different. So to get back to picking the truck up. Drove it home about 20 miles. Took it to work the next day a low and behold the engine light comes on. My friend has a snap on code reader. And we got two codes a turbo over boost and a intake manifold something maybe heat pressure. But every time i got turbo over boost code the truck would not have any power to pass. But this time the truck has power. So i took it back to the dealer and they say the codes did not reset when they fix it. And go what about that humming noise. They say the truck runs great. So far the light has not come on. But i think it will, and than all hell is going to break loose at the dealer.

So it looks like all hell will break out at my dealer. Engine check light came on today. Started it up had that same weird sound pull out on to the street had a weird howling sound. Didn't even go a half a block and the light came on. Do not know the code yet but will post it soon.

Something is really wrong and think you need to find another dealer to take it too.
