Which truck should I purchase?

Ok I have narrowed it down to 2 vehicles. I needs a auto that can stand up to hauling a 40ft neck goose trailer. So these are the two:

2006 Dodge Ram Pickup 3500 SLT 4dr Quad Cab
184,035 miles
5.9L I6 Turbo
Manual 6-Speed

or

2007 Dodge Ram Pickup 3500 SLT 4x2 Pickup Crew Cab
265,795 miles
6.7L I6 Turbo
Automatic

I'd be asking for a maintenance history on each. If available, that would tell you which one to buy. Lacking that, it's a roll of the dice.

Well....my 2wd gets stuck in wet grass so I wouldn't waste money on a 2wd. Ive owned autos and manuals. I prefer manuals. It will take a lot of coin to get an auto to shift the way it should and hold up to the Cummins. My 2 cents.

I would definitely go for the 06.

1) Has the 5.9, so hopefully better mileage & more reliable than the early 6.7 with DPF

2) Manual trans is my choice for towing and longevity

3) You didn't say for sure on this truck, but is possibly 4WD?

4) Less miles than the other choice. Doesn't always make it the best choice, but is generally a plus.

Those trucks could not be more different!

A 40foot gooseneck trailer puts you in dually territory anyway or maybe even larger depending what you are hauling.

The 5.9 and stick shift would be my choice for sure.

In fact I looked long and hard for my current 5.9 Laramir stick to avoid the first 6.7's after hearing repts about CEL and poor MPG.
