Truck lacks power.... sometimes.
Truck lacks power.... sometimes.
I've dug around and haven't found an answer sorry if i missed it somewhere in another thread.
First off my truck will randomly throw the 148 code and then a few days later go away.
Now if it's left for a period of time sometimes as long as over night sometimes just sitting while I'm at work it will take awhile to start. But sometimes it wont. Weather and temp don't seem to change this much sometimes it start right up sometimes not.
Then to make matters worse I have a couple of hills on the way to work and sometimes if I'm unlucky the truck wont do more than 55 going over them. (It's colorado but they are small hills) Other times 85 no problem.
When it won't pull the hill I'll pull over and the truck normally dies. Is hard to start and then usually runs just fine after that.
I don't notice any smoke (white or black) when it starts hard or when it won't make power, but it's normally pretty dark when I go to work and when I leave.
I'm thinking something has to be sticking open or closed relief valve possibly or the fuel control actuator. I really don't want to and cant affords to just throw parts at the problem. Does anybody have a clue where to start?
Thanks in advance.

Doubt if anyone can answer this until you fill in your signature and tell us what type, year, model etc your truck is.
Fought code po148 for two years!!. Posted on this site many many times looking for help and guidance. Talked to many diesel professionals over the phone . Replaced parts. Had tests done. Nothing solved/fixed it. Two years ago next month- I installed a diesel sump on my fuel tank- bypassing the oem draw straw--- figuring it was worth a try- I did just about everything else., so why not! It solved my issue! No po148 code for two years!
