truck getting hot,is it normal?

Hello all. I was pulling my trackhoe home the other day and noticed that when I would hit a long hill that the temp would spike up to around 210 deg.I was wandering if this is normal or not.Iwas pulling at a pretty fair pace considering the load. If this is not normal what can be done to fix this my truck is completely stock as far as performance mods go. THanks

Thanks, Iwas just wandering. I am new to the cummins diesel and still getting used to the truck.I had a ford powerstroke before it never heated up but it wouldn't pull like my cummins does either.

The fords coolant temp gauge is an idiot type gauge it does not fluctuate like the dodge does. you will notice that none of ford dash gauges fluctuate even the voltmeter or oil psi gauge.

If your pulling about 8000 or more pounds in OD up a long hill, it is normal. (Isn't it cool how you can pull at a "fair" pace with that load or more up a long grade with those gears! )

210 is fine. Mine runs that always pulling hard. Water boils at 212, for every lb of pressure you add (rad cap) you raise the boiling point. So you are not close to boiling your fluid.
