Truck droning

I have a 2005 lwb 4x4 with 373 gears.I also have a very irratating drone between 95 and 105 killometres an hour. The truck has been back to the dealer 3 times for this problem.First they changed the entire drivetrain from the transfer case back. That solved nothing took it back again they messed around with the exhaust retorking ect.that did nothing.Took it back again they had the truck for a week and a half ,they put in new 2006 engine mounts tranny mounts a new resonator and tailpipe still has not improved at all.Now they want to try 4:10 gear set i am not sure about this as i think the drone will be there at a slower speed. This drone happens at about 1700 rpm when the the torgue converter locks into OD.Its bad i have taken a few guys out in the truck and they can hear and feel this thing without a doubt.I don't think the guys at Dodge have a clue what this is and all of a sudden after working on this thing so much they are calling it a< Characteristic>of quadcab LWB trucks. The service manager says that he just brought in two o6s and they do it to.I think he is dreaming my cousins husbands truck exactly the same does not drone and a guy at work he rents the same truck witha camper every year and he says it doesn't drone either. In my mind if this was a <characteristic > of these trucks not one of you would buy one of these as the drone is that bad .When the truck is empty the drone is hardly noticeable which is why i bought it in the first place .When i put my camper on it drones like crazy.I am starting to think there is something wrong with the tranny or the motor and i don't want a bandaid fix with the 4:10 gearset what do you guys think? does your truck have the <characteristic> drone that they say all of these models have or is it staring to snow early.I could really use some input here .Thanx

Is your '05 an early build?

'05.5 trucks had additional exhaust hangers/better isolaters, IIRC

Since it doesn't drone empty, make sure your camper shell isn't developing a harmonious vibration with the CTD's power pulses - the Cummins stands out among diesels for producing a LOT of vibes, some frequencies of which can cause not only irritating audible noise but damage to components (i.e. work-hardening of thin cross-section metal)

I have a noise in my 2007 and had the same noise in my 1996, both 4X4 quad cabs. I don't know if I would call it a drone, but maybe I could. I would describe it as somewhere between a whistle and the ring of two pieces of dry tinny metal turnining against one another. It generally starts at about 40 mph. At one point I thought it was brakes dragging, but I will go 60 and push brake fairly hard under throttle and the sound persists. I will go 65 and push the clutch and let engine idle and the noise is still there, so I guess it isn't the turbo?????? I would like any suggestions anybody may have.
