transmission question??
transmission question??
Hello, to start off my Dodge is the first chrysler let alone the first diesel i have ever owned, i havd the 48RE and when im driving around town when my trans goes to shift into overdrive it feels like it waits a little bit before it does actually shift, if that makes sense. i have driven some dodge trucks with the ctd like mine at work and they all shift like mine, but i havent driven it long enough or fast enough to get it to go into overdrive so i dont really have a basis for comparison. so basically im wondering of my truck is supposed to do that or is it supposed to shift right into OD? its not like a jerk of slip when it does go into OD, but its the time that it takes to shift, also the speed it like around 45-55 mph.
could this be the trucks way of telling me i need a band adjustment??
thanks adam
p.s. how many gears are in the 48re 4 or 5?

Mine does that... I've noticed that around town, it doesn't want to shift untill about 42 mph. If you'll back off the throttle when you are ready to get it to shift, it should. After it's shifted, roll back into the throttle and you'll be set.
