Transmission P0700

So I have the useless code P0700. Truck moves poorly when cold and when warm barely moves. Burned out the clutches plowing 7ft of snow so I had a transmission shop rebuilt it. They were highly recommended but ultimately that wasn't the case.

Nothing but trouble with them. It wouldn't move when I went to pick it up. They said it was down 3 qts and started getting ****** at me for some reason saying the truck was nothing but a PIA.

Picked up the truck 3 days later and drove badly right out of the parking lot. It's a 2003 HP with a Bully Dog Extreme, so it should fly. Moved more like a Kia with a stuck caliper.

Brought it back and now they are swearing at me and saying it drives fine. Then they say that it isn't driving because it isn't making boost. True. But after pulling codes and getting the P0700 I know it's in limp mode and there is still something wrong with the tranny.

So now I need to figure out what's causing the P0700. I have a cabinet full of scanners but none will actually talk to the TCM. They say they are connected to it, but just parrot what the PCM says.

What's a good scanner to actually diagnose the tranny? I'm looking at a Solus Ultra but not sure if it'll do the trick. Anyone know for sure what scanner (s) will work (besides a DRB III)?

On these trucks there is no TCM, everything transmission related goes through the PCM.
The only things that are controlled electronically are the OD solenoid, the TC solenoid and the governor pressure solenoid.
All the solenoids are checked for proper continuity by the PCM.
The sensors in the trans talking to the PCM are fluid temperature sensor, governor pressure sensor and output shaft speed sensor.
If your scanner talks to the PCM take a look at the values your sensors read. Temp with cold fluid should show outside temp.
Governor pressure should show zero at standstill, and rise one psi per one mph.

My scanners won't

I can only see a handful of PID's and nothing tranny related. That's why I am looking for something that will dig a bit deeper.

I bought this about a year and half ago.

It has "live data view" for the PCM or any of the other modules, which is probably what you are looking for.
it also allows datalogging of all the sensors (in each module) or just the one's you pick.

Kind of expensive, but it does pretty much every brand, all the way up to a year after you get it
(provides free updates for one year). Even has WIFI and internet so you can look stuff up without
having to go back to computer.

I have

I have a sibling of that unit. They have so many models that have the same interface, it's hard to figure out what each does differently. I actually have several Autel units.

I am hesitant to get another. Support on them is non existent and I've gotten screwed a few times. One of the first few I bought had TPMS and that was the reason I bought it. I did one of the system updates and it was gone. They replaced it with BMS. I called and asked WTH! And they just said buy a TPMS unit. Any other questions?

The one I use now was supposed to have bidirectional component tests. But whenever you select one, it just says that is not available. So you know it's there, you just can't get to it.

I'm willing to pay that much since would also use it for my shop, but I think I've had enough of Autel.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
