The reason I got the floor shifter is because I work at New Prossess Gear ,and see how many of the elect. shift motors fail befor they go out the door.

Can't be done without buying all of the linkage and a new case for the transfer case! The juice ain't hardly worth the squeeze on that one!

DC is dead boys....it's just CHRYSLER now. It was my understanding with talking to engineering that they were still under the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" theory with the manual t-case.....however, most people look at the GM's and Fords and all they have to do is "push a button".... To most of us "meat and potato" guys here we see the backward logic in that. But it sells trucks and the change was made.

....of course it has also eliminated the vac switch on the T case which was prone to failure along with the vac lines that were always hanging in dangers way.

My 06 tranny went out at about 3,000 miles. Was giving a steady acceleration from a stop sign (Was not getting on it either), I heard a thud underneath my truck and 20 minutes later my truck would not even move made lots of rackit from the tranny though. Had it towed to the dealer, they concluded, internal failure, overdrive planetary gear came apart and destroyed the torque converter. Instead of a new tranny Dodge decided to rebuild it. Haven't had any problems from the tranny yet, but I'm not keeping it past the warranty to find out, considering all the other problems I've had with it.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking; thanks for the info. I remember that there were 2 different systems developed to cure the t-case shifting problems on the 90s GM trucks that used the heating gas cylinder deal. One was electric (similar to Dodge?) and there was an aftermarket system that used a cable. I guess if the Dodge system becomes a problem someone will step up.

megacab tranny option

My Megacab has electronic shift. My offroad QC had it on the floor. While this one works well enough (so far) and gives more floor space, I liked the floor version. I suspect the vast majority of Megacab owners don't "wheel" them much anyway and that's another excuse to go electronic.
