Ok I recently noticed my trans has been chattering a little. It goes from 1 to 2nd (smooth) then 2nd to 3rd (smooth) 3rd to 4th it chatters a little! Any ideas guys? I have about 89k on the truck and I don't beat it! Maybe I should just do a tranny service to it huh? Let me know! Thanks!

 

I would get it serviced.....it's the best and cheapest place to start. It only gets more expensive from there...

 

Do you mean chatter or shudder? If its chattering when you hit OD its either a major problem or something loose underneath. If its shuddering when it hits OD and locks up its probably TC clutch. Not enough line pressure to hold the power. A service won't address the problem. You really need a shift kit to start with and hope it hasn't hurt itslef already.

I'd do a fliud exchange,the whole amount of fliud.Not just a few qts.I've seen a lot of torque convertor shudder/chatter fixed with all new fliud.
