Trans Issue - Fixed at Dealer (so far)

Went out of town on business, so I thought it would be a good idea to get the truck in for, hopefully, the last dealer service before the 36k mile warranty is over.

Symptoms:
1) Leaking fluid from bell housing
2) Slip / shuttle shift from 1-2 at 10-20mph

Failed part: Front band & front clutch

Parts replaced:
4329853 Band
5092524AB Seal Pkg - Trans
4617210 Solenoid-Trans Gov
56028196AD Tranduce-Pressure Sensor
RL118868AB Converter
52118789 Filter-Valve Body
16 qts of fluid

Tech Comments:
R&R Trans; Overhauled; Installed new converter due to fluid contamination; reverse flush and flow check cooler & lines

Now I am glad I did get it in!

Everything seems fine now - symptoms are gone

I'm wondering if this wouldn't help MPG? Then again with new parts, I'm wondering if it won't hurt MPG for the first 5k miles, until the parts get worn in.

Sounds like they took good care of you.

The parts don't need to wear in, so don't expect any MPG changes except for what a new, non-broken convertor gets you

HOV, Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I do feel fortunate.

The upside to MPG, is that I have my Passat running and using for a daily driver (finally got the AC worked out). The truck will only be used for hauling...boat to lake and camper out of town.
The upside: It's cooling off, so the fall bite should be starting anytime now! Phoenix is still breaking 100F, but the nights are cooling to ~72.

It's still too f-ing hot here until November. Which dealership did you take it to? I took mine to Ed Moses Dodge for the AC door fix, otherwise it hasn't seen a shop. I'm planning on swapping on a mag-hytec DD pan and doing a band adjustment in addition to a trans drain, filter, and fill sometime soon.

It was the dealer off I10 & Elliot.

I have the mag-hytec DD pan. 2nd time I've had it in and they have not given me any hassle about it or the gauges. Aside from gauges, the truck is bone stock.
