Trans.fluid change/flush

well after hauling our 32 ft fiver to it's final resting spot in an newly developed seasonal site, and encountering all kinds of problems shoe horning it into position with a very tight corner and soft approach getting stuck in the process having to use 4x4 low range for the first time i noticed my trans temp. gauge reading 240 F!!! i almost had a heart attack. As soon as i got home i dumped the transmission fluid and replaced the filter, after which i did the cooling line transfusion which is so easy to do,but in my haste if left out the **** MAGNET from the pan.Would it still help to place it on the exterior of the pan it does seem strong enough and i might pick up a stronger one as well, talk about a DUH!! moment!!

240 is not out of line when working it hard. Some of these trucks hit that daily.
