Anyone have any comments on auto or manual tranny? I have only owned manuals and own an 04 6 spped now and hate it! Wondering if I should switch? Do not know what the problems are if any?

 

What don't you like about it?? The only downside to the 6 speeds (besides bumper to bumper traffic) is the long shifter throw, but a new shifter cuts that almost in half, and makes them way better.. I love my auto, but it is definatly the weak link of the truck

 

Maybe its the gear ratio with the short strokes between gears when not towing? Its great when towing if I still did that more often? I was thinking of changing the ratio. Had a 97 5 speed and loved. had the perfect range between gears.

 

I know what you mean, but the 6 speed is still far more bullet proof than the auto. The auto is great for around town driving, and far more relaxing....I just hate worring about how I drive it when towing a decent load

 

trust me I am having issues with my auto.....it has been good til now but after a rebuilt I cant seem to get it right. very frustrating

 

I guess I will have to do more research on what I get out of the 3.73s or 3.42s and see whats best. I do not tow as much now but do alot of highway driving and might enjoy the better MPG's with different ratios? Are the problems you been havin with the auto form the pedal on the right? or just week product?
