Tranny Lines, which is which?

Is the cooling line for the tranny that goes into the trans more towards the rear of the vehicle the return line, as it was in my 4R100? Am going to change fluid soon, wanted to make absolute sure. Has anyone put a Magnefine tranny filter on your truck, and if so, where? It would be nice if they had some rubber line long enough somewhere to tap into. I hate to cut the hard lines! I need this tranny to last a long time and am a firm believer in magnefine filters to prolong them.

On the 727, 518, 47RH, 47RE, the fluid exits the trans through the front line and returns through the rear line. The 48RE should be the same.

I cant say but you can tell buy blocking the wheels and puting it in gear and feeling the lines. In gear with no lock-up one line will get a lot hotter.

Correct, the fluid exits from the front line.
