Tranny Issue(Codes)

Anyone here know what this code is? P 0700? I'm pretty sure it is tranny related but I don't know the exact specifics of it. Would this code cause a truck to defuel at 2500 rpms or so? I think I played a little to hard and now the ball has landed in my court(time for some good ol wallet denting)

One more question. I know by cycling the key on/off 3x shows your codes. Those kinds of codes are stored in the PCM? They cann't be erased by say a basic DTC scanner can they? I went to Advanced Auto to see if it would clear and it still stayed in my system. I tried using the Bully Dog but it just sayed no DTC's. I think that only works for actually CEL's(which I have none popping up).

O.K. here is why. You have 2 control modules on your truck. An ECM for the engine ( Cummins ) and then a PCM (powertrain control module- DODGE )for everything else like cruise, transmission , alternator, all the other stuff. The ECM doesn't control the transmission, yet it needs to know if there is a problem in the PCM so the PCM will send a code p0700 to the ECM. The odo trick doesn't read the PCM codes so you can't actually tell what is wrong without a scanner. Most scanners have 2 selections when you hook them up. It will ask engine cummins, or engine pcm. Maybe the cheaper scanners like Autozone and such don't have the capability, I don't know for sure. Anyhow, there is a TSB for an erroneous P0700 code if there aren't any transmission codes in the PCM. You have to reflash the ECM. Hope that makes it clear?
