which tranny fluid

i was reading a repair manual and the recommended gear oil for the manual g-56 is chrysler atf-4? what gives, is this a typo or does the manual really use atf? and where can i get some of this cheaper than the dealer?

Yup, ATF+4 is what the G56 uses.
Wal-mart has both their brand super tech ATF+4 and Mopar ATF+4. Since anyone who produces ATF+4 has to be licensed by Mopar (chrysler) I would say that all ATF+4 is exactly the same. So I buy super tech ATF+4 and save a few bucks for my truck.

Didn't read your signature before responding so if you have a 4X4 the transfer case also uses the same ATF+4.

Steel cased transmissions use oil, and aluminum cased trannys use ATF.

Then again, I like using MTL in my Mustang's T-5.
