Trade my 07 for a 03?

My sig. 2007 is my first diesel and I love the truck, just need to get an auto and 4x4 so I can drive it in the snow/sand and my wife can drive it when we camp. I have found a great deal on a 2003 Laramie that I really like. I am just wondering if the 03 is as solid as the 07. Any help/red flags to look for would be much appreciated. Thanks.

03 was a lower hp/tq than your 07, with a slightly smaller turbo IIRC. There are a few other differences, piston shape, mechanical wastegate, no cat... maybe one or two other things.

The only real problem that I know of off the top of my head with that era were the canister mounted fuel pumps failing, but as old as it is, this should have been corrected already.

See if it has any mods, a pyro tapped into the exhaust manifold is a good indicator.

As long as it's not beat up, it is probably a good deal. You'll get good MPG's with it. You'll probably need to do some front end and tranny work, tho.

HTH.

Thank you very much. I want a daily driver with 0 issues. I want to keep it under $30k if possible. My truck has 48k miles on it and want to stay around that number. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. 6.7L maybe?

For $30,000 or close to that you should be able to find a super low mileage 03-04 Laramie. As far as having ZERO problems, the truck will be 7-8 years old so you have to expect some things may start going wrong....
