The 4WD system on these trucks is to blame.

Traction - 4WD & Tires
Don't get me wrong, I think there are better tires out there than the Michelins. I've just seen my fair share of stock tires on a 4wd that couldn't get it over an ant hill. For a stock tire the Michelins are the best I've seen so far.
Wow, 45 members voted that tires are the critical element in having the 4WD setup work the best. Only 4 hold to that the 4WD system is to blame. I think the number speak for themselves. So, before you blame the 4WD setup, make sure you have good SNOWFLAKE rated tires. They make a world of difference.
Your missing a more important item. A driver that knows how to get arround in poor traction is worth more than 4WD and tires combined. I used to drive circles arround big 4x4 premadonas in my old 62 6cy open axle comet S-22..... I'd be deep into woods meeting up with hunters that wondered how the heck I got there, they were stuck at the bottom. My wife needed a 4x4 jeep to get in and out of the driveway. eeehh haaa !!!!

Wanted to know what guys were running that have to do highway during the week and mud, snow on the weekend WORK (not playtime).
Absolutely hate the Michelins - like sneakers on topsoil and no grip but dig a hole like a dog..... arrrrggghh! hate to tow my own truck out!@! [QUOTE]
Revos are awesome as are the scorpion atr, and bfgtko. The revos and the scorpions are available in "E" range.

The stock Michelins (highway tires) are by far the worse tires I have ever owned.
They seem to be made out of too hard a rubber compound.
In rain and snow, they have the grip of a bald tire.
When driving at a SAFE SPEED on a wet on-ramp or off-ramp, I can actually feel my front end pushing and sliding.
I would much rather have a tire that only lasts 30k, but has great traction for the life of the tire.

The stock BFGs I had were junk (Rugged TRAIL? HA!). I went to BFG ATs and they were a lot better, and now these MTZs are even better. Not sure how they will do in the deep stuff yet, because the East Coast still thinks it is Fall or something! Where is my snow?!?!?!
this is my second winter season with stock tires. Last year was fairly mild, but this year I'm on my third snow storm in as many weeks. When I'm in 4 high I go where ever I need to go without a concern. For me they're fine.
