I have had single wheels and pull good but compared to a dually the is no contest. the dually I have is a overkill for what I do BUT when I need the extra stability it sure is nice. As the you already know and the other people have already said you could get by with a single wheel but you want to have the extra feel of stability then you might as well just stick with what you know works

I went from a SRW to DRW and I'm pulling the same trailer and load. I did that for the extra stability of the dually. I'm glad I switched, much more stable. I wouldn't down size if it were me.

I have a 2004.5 3500 4x4 SRW 6-speed and pull a 24' Pace with my race car inside, never had an issue stability wise and enjoy the ease of driving it daily if I want, compared to trying to park a dually in these cramped spaces we have now days.

But from what it sounds like both will work, but like hound dog said...i don't know if i wanna switch.
I have a 32' Titan Classic livestock trailer with tripels and I have towed with it loaded a few times with my 05 F-350 single rear wheel and it really is to much for the SRW. 24' a SRW will work but you get to a 30' You can fit 15, 1200 pound cows in there thats 18000 pounds not counting the trailer.

This is my first dually. I must say its road manners are top notch. I seriously forget there is a trailer behind me on the road. All my single wheel trucks really feel the road abuse towards the trailer and it feeds into the truck.

I love my dually and wouldn't tow with anything else.

Have you ever looked at different insurance rates between 2500 and 3500.
Correct my if I'm wrong, but you can get a single 3500 also.

I already own a one ton dually, and the truck i replace it with will be a one ton also weather it be a single or drw, a 2500 is not even a factor. I was just wondering about the stability of a single wheel because i have never pulled with one before. If my load never shifted (i haul cattle quite often) i wouldn't have as big of an issue with thinking about buying a single, but since the load shifts, stability is a big factor and i think the dually is the way to go again.

thanks again, Adam

My previous truck was a 97 3/4T CTD and I bought this 03 mainly for the QC, CR engine, 6spd and the 4.10. I could have stayed with srw but this 03 happened to be a drw. I got used to city driving and there's no way I'd go back to srw now unless I got a lot lighter rv. Friends that went to drw just for pulling TT's say the same thing - it's like night and day! Craig
