Tow 16,000 + trailer?

Im lookin to tow my dump truck to kentucky. Is it too much to ask my truck to pull it (#16,000) plus a tandem dual gooseneck trailer for about four hours. Im not worried about any laws just if it will handle the weight. There are some pretty steep hills. Thanks

I think that you would be fine for weight cause from what i hear guys pull 25k quite a bit, however WIND RESISTANCE could keep you at lower speeds(50mph).

I think that you should be fine, just don't expect to go 70 and watch your gauges.

hope this helps some.

;Your only concern here would be the rear tire capacity and pressure. If they are overloaded you could get into trouble and have sway.

As said above, my only concern would be the tires. I doubt if mud terrains in that size are rated for a lot of weight. An E-rated tire at max pressure would probably be in order for that much weight.

Probably even E rated is pushing the envelope. I have experience in that having pulled over 30,000 for business with a 2500. The high pressure is the key to killing sway.

i would love to drive the dump but the state of ohio is jerkin me around getting my tags renewed since i moved to kentucky. $595 for annual tags in ohio that are good for one day and then pay it again to kentucky i dont think so. Plus its a good excuse to get a gooseneck hitch on the ram.

If you consider being overweight, and beyond the recommended SAFE tow weight by Dodge, as breaking laws, then yes you are breaking laws.

Here we go again. If you are not overloading the tires by the max weight listed on them, go for it. If you are tagged for the weight you are legal. If not, you are not legal.

If you have 2 people on the trip you can drive the one with expired tags in the front and the Dodge right behind it and get there all the way without being caught. I have seen this done on the HWY many of times or the old mud on the plate trick.

Like I said before I pull some loads that will hit 16k and above this is truely when the 22.5 rims and tires really really perform.

Good eyes, and yes that was for the show. We got lucky, good weather for move-in, and a great show.
