throwing serpintine belt
throwing serpintine belt
My truck is in the shop and (not the Dealer) lol..and they are having a hard time figuring out why my belts keep wearing out so fast (jumping off track)?..The power steering pump had a obvious wobble and we replaced that and all seems to be good untill you shut the motor off and the belt keeps jumping off a couple of tracks? maybe two or so?..They are checking out all my other componants that the belt runs, looking for the problem. But I wondered if anyone has had this same problem?
Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

i replaced the belt on my 05 at about 43K miles
the belt was starting to shread on the edge.
replaced it with a gates gaterback belt,
works fine and do have belt chirp when i shut down the engine.
Note: It just makes some noise when you shut down a major power plant.

Hey there Ross, don't apologize for anything bud, sometimes the problem isn't so obvious or easy to fix. Just remember, dumb questions are much easier to ask than dumb mistakes are to fix. LOL

think I found out what was wrong with serpentene belt
Thanks to all who posted to get ideas why my belt kept jumping track and sheering off a 1/4 of my belt?..Last time I posted I thought I had it fixed? but it did it again when i was out on the road!..Last time in the shop they did have to replace the power steering unit as it had a wobble and figured that was throwing my belt to the side?..Well after Dodge dealer said they had to modify the pump and pully and I would have to buy the new set-up at $600.oo (ouch)..It jumped again after installing a new pump pully and a new tensenor (sp)..My mechanic after working at it for 2 hours and trying to figure out why it still jumped after replacing those parts noticed that even on the new pump it still was cocking the belt to the side and jumping it again?..They pulled the pully farther out, a little at a time untill the belt was aligned properly?..The guy in the shop I took it to took it personal and was going to figure it out no matter what and he noticed that you might even have to pull the power steering pully out farther(even on the new( "re-worked pump")
that Dodge said we would have too!..sorry for the long winded post..but it might help a few that said they have had a similer problem?..As i did.
