Throwing codes, need Help
Fired up truck tonight, swaped trailers, fired up again and it would barely run. Messed with it, found that if I un hooked the harness for #1/#2 injectors that there was no change, so that indicated that the the problem was with #1and #2. Injectors OHM'd fine. The injector harness ohm'd fine too. So what now? Checked codes: P 2146
What the thing im reading about the AC comp and chafed wires? only wires I see are to AC clutch. NEED HELP. thanks.

Still running rough this AM. could the smarty be causing this? I'll set I stock and try It. Other articles I've read are suggesting a bad ECM. Hoping not. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: started up truck to put in shop. Runs fine. ??????
Cleared the codes. Set smarty to stock. Check wiring harnesses again. And Wiggled wires while it was running, couldn't duplicate the issue.
Any suggestions?

P2146 Fuel Injector Group 1 Supply Voltage Circuit.......
Kinda sounds like the plug harness for the front 2 injectors could have a short or something. Unplug it and make sure it's clean and see if that might help. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the update. I checked it, wiggled it, plugged and unplugged. Made no difference. I ohm'd the injector harness, it passed. Could be in harness from ECM to injector harness plug. Didn't go that far this AM. Hoping it isnt the ECM. Truck is running fine now. Gonna run it til something finally quits and then I can find it.

Ohm check the injectors should be less then 1 ohm but more the 0 ohms. I usually get .2 or .3 on good injectors using a Fluke multimeter.

Thanks Iron. Did that. They were .2 ohm.
When I unplugged the #1/#2 injector harness plug on side of valve cover, while the engine was running, nothing changed. It didnt run any worse. That makes me think that I lost both #1 and 2 cylinders. Which is why I was thinking ECM. Still hoping not. I was also getting a knocking sound, like injector knock. It came and went when truck was running poorly. At 5pm when I got off work, i loaded SW 3 from the smarty JR and had a fun ride home. Ran great.
A lot of posts for chafed wires at AC Compressor and bad injector wiring harnesses associated with this code.

Valve cover gastket has been updated, may want to replace it before going after injectors. Use care when tightening wiring connector nuts to injectors.

The Mopar part number for the injector harness or Rocker Housing Gasket Part is # 05114418AA. They are also available via Cummins as part# 3966805. I have attached a link that shows the part.

The OP's truck is an '03, our valve cover gasket is a basic O-ring design....only thing that can go wrong here is an oil leak if it cracks or splits. I think the gasket mentioned by BigIron was possibly for a later model truck where the wire harness is made into it.

I agree! However the part numbers that I provided are applicable to the 03 - 05 model years. The 03-05 harness do fail;however, not as often as the 06-07 harness that is integrated into the gasket.
