Thoughts on an overfull transmission?

So the guy i had do my vb and tc is a super knowledgeable guy,in fact helped develop the transgo kit,But every time i get it back it has atleast 3 quarts to much fluid. Now I know this guy beats me hands down with tranny smarts, but ived wrenched all my life and i run a shop now so im not completely ignorant, but i think they put the full line on the dip stick for a reason,my lfuid goes almost 1/4 or 1/2 inch above the s bends on the stick(when hot)His explination is,its not officially overfull until the fluid foams?

What will this do to my tranny and or how it shifts?

As soon as you work that overfilled tranny hard, it'll start to spit out oil. Could also cause damage to seals and such. I don't think there is any good reason to overfill a tranny. Maybe I'm wrong, but I wouldn't put any money on it tho...............

Then again, I'n by no means a tranny expert of any kind at all...............

I agree with the above, over full causes foam which also causes cavitation and other problems. Would expect it to cause other damage like seal failure and other things. Drain the excess.......

You are checking it in Neutral, not Park, aren't you? Checking it in Park will will show up as over full on the stick.

according to my tranny guy, after the transgo kit you can check it in park, and the differance between park and nuetral levels are minimal.
I drained a quart and a half last night,am still a little overfull, now the tranny shifts even stranger, but the temps seem a little lower???????

When you drop the VB or anything invasive like that you have to burp it like a baby.
It is better to be a little under filled than a little over.
So if you think you need 8qts to go in put 5. drive around the block and test again.
