Thought my truck was going to start on fire??
Thought my truck was going to start on fire??
So I was driving home the other night, and after about 6 miles of normal highway driving at about 65, I hear a noise coming from somewhere under the truck...by the time I get the radio turned down I start to smell burning and I can feel heat coming from the area underneath the center seat, maybe tranny or t-case area. Fast heat, like fire and can smell burning. So I stop quickly, get and look and nothing...no leaks, can't feel any heat, nothing. I drive the rest of the way home, about 7 miles, no problems. I drive 70 miles the next morning, no problem. Any ideas on this? The truck has been sitting for a week or so at a time all summer. Thanks for any help.

I wonder if there was a nest under the hood that started on fire and blew away after burning? Look around for some evidence. Hmmmm.
