Thinking about stepping up to a CTD

So I am thinking of getting a 04.5-06 CTD. Is there anything I should look out for on these. I dont want to buy one that has already been abused, I want to be the one who does that LOL.

I am very new to diesel so I need all of help

I cant elp you out much, i a new to diesels too. I can tell you what i kniow from reading around here.

You can look for trucks that have had to had their transmissions replaced. If it has a chip, or other mods, it might have been toyed with. You could ask when the tires were replaced and look at the tread depth. If the tires are like fairly new and the tread is almost gone, you know it was floored a lot.

I really dont know, but that is some of the stuff i am going to look at as i plan on purchasing my first soon.

Beware of any truck that has "chips" or programmers installed. The Cummins puts out plenty of torque and power without these mods. These mods will void your Cummins 100k warranty or any Dodge warranty a truck may have. Take the prospective truck to a dealer and have them check for the presence of any device. It will show on the computer!!

I have now had my CTD for about a year now, I moved up from the 01 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 QC. I have not regretted making the move from gas I am very happy with the cummins. Great engine and compared to gas fairly easy to work on. I bought used and have no complaints

When looking at used I would look for a truck that has had only one owner and I'd also look to see if any modifications have been made to the truck. I would look for something that is completely stock, especially if it's still under warranty.

What do yall think of like a 04 with 107,000 miles on it. I found a few for sale around that price, but am a bit worried about the tranny.
