Things to watch for ?

Hello,

I just traded my beloved 01' for an 05'. I was just wondering what common problems are out there for the 600 Cummings motor?
I know they solved the lift pump issue but what else should I look out for?
Thanks.

One thing to check is the open elbo on top of your fuel tank. Its setting in a concave and can let dirt and water into fuel tank. My opinion this has a lot to do with lift pumps failing.
18 inches of 1/4 fuel line ,pluged on elbo with a cheap inline filter on end fixes it. Let the filter hang down.

U joints are a common thing it seems that they are getting replaced around 40-50,000 miles from what I have seen and heard.
I have no complaints with my 600. I just made 1347 mile trip last week empty + 100 gallons fuel. Average speed was 52 mph and got 20.8 mpg. I clicked 50,000 miles during the trip.

the 05 will be just like your 2nd gen. Watch fuel pressure, use a fuel additive to keep the cp3 happy, and hope that you don't have the lucky special edition plastic intercooler. Get the updated tsb on the door sills. Other than that they are great. I haven't any problems with u-joints yet.
