Why are they discontinue the 5.9l? Is there any real reason or is it just that Daimler thinks its time for a change? Although I did drive a new 07 Dodge 3500 quad cab w/ the 6.7 before I bought my 5.9. I liked it.

EPA is the main reason, new emission standards for diesels. The new motor is designed for all the emissions stuff the 5.9 is not.

Yeah we are burninf more fuel to make less of one or 2 Particular particulates the are in diesel exhaust.

? which is cleaner a gas or diesel?
Trucker: "well put it like this; you take a cat and put it in a pillow case and hang it in front of the exhaust of a gas engine and drive for an hour. That cat will be DEAD!

Take and put the cat in front of a diesel exhaust and drive for an hour ..
She will be sick as #@#$LL but alive nonetheless!"""""""

Plus the 6.7L is still having DPF issues.

That is why I bought my 2007 5.9L two weeks ago!

got mine in october. did not want anything to do with the 6.7. went that route with a dmax when they did the big change in 06 with the 650 LBZ motor. had problems. did not want to go down the road of being a tester for a new motor.

Picked mine up three days ago, 350 miles so far. This is my 1st Dodge. I traded my 02 F350 7.3 Lariat in for it. I was sad to see my 7.3 go and hope the new truck treats me right. No way was I going to be a part of the DPF test group of any brand.
