In Tank LP stalls or quits... help

Hi all. My father-in-law has an 04 2500 that had a lift pump failure. He went to the dealer and bought the in-tank kit. It is now installed and seems to work correctly for a time, but it is like it "cuts out" after a while. He said it runs well and drives well and then when he tried to drive it home it died again. Is this a wiring problem from the install. The instructions say something about reconfiguring the computer. Is this maybe the problem as he installed it himself and no computer mods are made. I am searching and reading as we speak, but thought since we need help now I would go ahead and post. It seems to me that the pump could simply be wired to run in the
"on position" of the ignition, or will this kill something? Thanks for all of your help and this wonderful resource.
