T-Case Floor-Shift Conv.
Found a good deal on a 2003 HO w/ all the options I want but it has the push button shift for the t-case. Not usually a big fan of buttons and was wondering if it's possible or even worth swapping a floor shift back in. Let me know if this is just a ridiculous idea or not.
Thanks- Tim

When I looked into it,(on my 07 ) it seems the transfer cases are different. The electrical-knobbo job case(273 D) has a big tubular actuator housing sticking out of it and may be missing the shaft to hook up to on the drivers side. Then again, it may be under this gearbox...

I've always hated 4wd buttons/switches too, but these ones seem to work really well. You almost never hear of problems with them. I don't think it's worth the hassle to change it over to a stick.

I'd have gotten the manual shift transfer case, too, except I wanted the Laramie package and it can't be deleted... so I've got a stick shift truck with an electric shift transfer case.
Anyhow, it has worked perfectly, so I feel better about it.

Not that it matters, but I wonder if there is a strength difference between the two (not that I'm going to sled pull or anything). I guess since they're two different cases, its definitely not worth the swap.

Just put a deposit on an '03 H.O. with six speed and man. t-case! Do you think it really matters if it has 130,000? I was looking for one w/ less miles but I've been told it doesn't really matter with a cummins.

If the truck was well maintained, it should be fine. No matter what, at 130000, it'll probably need the usual kinds of things, unless they were already, or just done. ( Naturally it depends on what the truck was used for, and how it was used. Some guys can wreck a truck with half those miles.)

If the shift shaft bushing holes are the same it should be do-able.
I was thinking about doing it but I'm going to collect the manual parts now and be ready when/if the elec. gizmo dies.
