I would say the case is shot. Probably defective to begin with, dropped at the factory or something weird like that, who knows. You can try to delay the inevitable with crack repairs. It probably won't be long before it comes comepletely apart no matter what you do. Lots of stress on that thing all the time, especially if you're using 4WD. I'd replace it.

 

Yeah I'm affraid you could be right, in the meantime considering a new case is $2,625 CDN I think it could be worth monkeying with and see what happens.

I talked to a local wrecker, he says it's possibile to weld and has seen some good results doing that.

I think I'd be more likely to replace the offending case 1/2 and see how that goes.
