ATF+4 is synthetic. I’ve been running the Mopar stuff from Wally-world in the trans and transfer case. I put Valvoline in the diffs last time. I just ordered some Amsoil for my next round of oil changes, however.
FYI, ATF+4 is not synthetic it's still a group III dino fluid. Groups 4 & 5 fluids are 100% synthetic and Amsoil is ATF+4 is a Group 4 and thus it's 100% synthetic. As for his G56 I've heard a lot of good things from those who use to Amsoil in their G56's.
Actually ATF4 is a synthetic. It says so on the bottle. It may be a group III but that doesn't mean it is not a synthetic. I am sick and tired of the brainwashed multilevel marketing Amsoil crowd forming a committee to determine what is a "true synthetic" and what is not. For your information, Amsoil has 2 types of "full synthetics" a group III and a group IV.
Look in your owners manual and get a brand that meets the specs.

Oh this is the URL to Allpar: http://www.allpar.com/mopar/transmissions/fluids.html that I based my above post on. Also on the right side it list the difference in Group I, II,III and IV fluids. Also at the bottom of the page they say this: The paper noted that one alternative was to use synthetic Group IV base stock, which are even more expensive than the ATF+4 solution, which provided Group IV style performance from Group III stock. ATF+4 meets strict low-temperature, oxidation, and volatility performance requirements and relatively low cost — believe it or not.
BTW, the only reason they can call Group III fluids and oils synthetic is because of a law suit that Mobil filed and lost. The judge decided that the word Synthetic is just a marketing term and this allowed all of the oil company's to use the word Synthetic even tho its not 100% synthetic like group IV and V oils and fluids.
Just so that you know I'm not talking out of my back side nor some brainwashed Amsoil mouth piece that you like to call people who do not agree with you on this subject, Allpar has stated that Mopar ATF+4 is a group III fluid. So its not just Amsoil, Redline or Royal Purple stating that Group III fluids are not synthetic. Yes Group III fluids are getting much closer to synthetic oil and fluids but they are still are not 100% synthetic!

You may want to read that site again. It says that most synthetics are made from group III base stocks. I am very familiar with the Mobil Castrol PAO case. The fact is Castrol won and "full 100% synthetics" can use group III and group IV even group V base stocks. The judge ruled that case in favor of Castrol because of the performance of the oil as compared to Mobil. BTW you are just like the rest of the AMSOIL sheep that puts a plug in for AMSOIL every chance you get. I see your posts. Same old AMSOIL this and AMSOIL that. One of the only "true full synthetics" BS. AMSOIL has a group III "full synthetic" that they sell. The difference between it and the PAO fluid is that the group III is API certified. If someone asks on a post what kind of fluid to put in their truck, why do you think you know more than the Cummins and Chrysler engineer? So many transmissions are requiring specialty fluids, not just because they want a synthetic. Its because the new fluids are starting to have a different viscosity and friction modifiers. Mercon SP for the Superdutys is a "full synthetic". Try putting AMSOIL or any other transmission fluid in it. It won't shift. Here is the deal, put what the manufacturer says to put in and your truck will last for a long long time.
