My warranty is up and I'm due for a drain/refill in the trans.

Should I just drain the pan and refill it with this Amsoil ATF or would mixing the ATF+4 and Amsoil Synthetic ATF not work well?

Eventually I'd like to drain the entire system & refill with Amsoil but I don't need to do that yet.

If mixing Amsoil ATF and ATF+4 is a bad idea, I'll measure the cost of a drain/refill with ATF+4 vs. overhaull with Amsoil ATF.

 

I have mixed them with no problem,not sure if the torque convertor has a drain plug or not on the 48RE,but I think the more you get out the better it would be..

 

Just take the AMSOIL to one of you local oil change dealers or even the dealer you brought the truck from and ask them to do a flush with the AMSOIL instead. They will usually only charge you for the time worked, about $50-80. That way yo get 100% AMSOIL in the system and besides then you won't need to do anything else to tranny for a long time.

There is NO problem with mixing MOPAR ATF+4 with AMSOIL ATF.
GOod choise with AMSOIL, my truck has been head to toe with the stuff every since I bought it home

 

I'll just get 10 quarts of Amsoil ATF for now. 4 quarts for the service fill and 4 quarts for the big pan. And 2 quarts for the t-case. Thanks guys! Comes out to about $130 shipped But it's in the name of my truck!

 

Get 16 qts for tthe trans and FLUSH it.really the most correct way.I would never mix old and new unles I planned on a filter change only.Most auto trans filters good till 90k.the flush does make a differance.

 

I'll Just tell you not to do a BG flush because i had it done to my truck and they did something wrong and it ate all the clutches apart inside the tranny.......18,000 had to have it rebuilt.......rebuild runs better than new though.........good luck

 

Give me the heads up, Will the dealer Flush the system with AmsOil & How does he perform this service? Disconnect a line and fill? Thanks for your help on this. Still got 15 K before the service is due...

 

Sold HUNDERDS of BG flushes and never had a problem.Most of the flush machines are BG.
