Sway Bar Links

Just wondering if anyone else has had a problem. Dodge uses ball joints on their sway bar end links. Mine just went bad at 26000 mi. Is this going to be a problem once a year for me?

Mine were gone at 85K, but were getting very noisy by 60K. I didn't know where the noise was coming from, but after replacing them with Carli's stainless steel/heims jointed ubnits, the noise is GONE!

how do you tell if they are going bad? my entire front end is new-except for sway bar links- but this past week i started to get a clunk in the front end- only happens when the truck has been sitting.start her up and drive about twenty feet-then i hear the clunk. no vibrations, etc can't figure out what it is!

Sometimes the clunking noise when turning the wheel may be the trac bar needs to be re-torqued or the end links are going bad. Especially when articulating. Look to see if one of the end links are bent slightly or badly. When my suspension system was first installed also. I had a clanking or clunk noise. My passenger front lower shock mount bolt was not in all the way. Pushed it in more and re-torqued it and noise gone away. This may or may not help. It could be something else, but a start.

sway bar links appear to be straight. the clunk can happen when going straight or the wheel slightly turned. i have don thurens trac bar-i did check the bolts-it is as tight as i can get it-tight! checked out the steering shaft- i really don't see any play in it. at the bottom where it connects to the steering box-minimal movement-so, i don't think that is the noise. checked the shocks-they are tight. i am puzzled!

They may be a bit short for 5". You could use a sway bar drop block with the link which would be good for 6" or so of lift. Lorenz Industries is probably the best place to get the block.
