Super light surge...........

when driving on a level road, steady speed, under 1500 RPM's, i can sometimes get this really light engine surge going down the road. you can hardly feel it, but I know it's doing it. fuel filter done every 5k. what gives???

Mine does it, and others reported it also.

I assume that these trucks have a throttle position sensor. It is most likely that. My 01 v10 and my buddy's 01 cummins did, do, exactly the same thing. The ecu only gets a signal from it every so often. So if your running under a constant load for a couple of cycles, most likely all it will ever be, and a little breeze hits the truck and it takes slightly more throttle it will be a delayed response to the motor. It may not even require a change in load to show up. It's basically the same thing that your cruise control does when you up the hp.

Mine does a little surge too...particularly when I've slowed down and pulle into a parking lot...seems to surge from idel to 650 or so...then back down to idle. Never really concerned me other than just interesting that it does it.

Mine does it too. And, the wind has nothing to do with it.
