For the first time ever I changed my oil this afternoon without spilling a drop!! I usually end up running for the absorbent stuff to soak up the big mess I make. On top of all that, I did it in record time!!

While I realize that this isn't exactly breaking news, it made me happy enough that I thought I'd share it with my fellow wrenchers on DTR.

Now...where did I leave that oil cap??

 

You're the first person I ever heard of that spilled oil when thay done an oil change.

 

I can do an oil, oil filter, and fuel filter change in 20 minutes and not spill a drop. Beat that hoss. Oh, and that includes starting the truck and checking for leaks.

crobtex, you obviously have not seen how hunter does an oil change.

 

Looks like that Texas A&M education is finally paying off.

20 minutes is weak. I have time to go get a beer in there with that.

 

20 minutes!!?? I let my oil drain for at least that long!

Change it while it's hot and by the time you unscrew the old filter, fill the new one, screw it back on, and reinstall the intake, the oil pan will have finished draining and you can screw the plug back in.

 

Hmmm. Looks like it's time to step it up some.

 

Well, the fridge may, or may not, be "technically" right next to the truck in my garage.

 

When I was younger I was similarly proud of a dripless oil change. I was thinking how cool it was not to drop any oil. Just then I took a step backwards and managed to put my whole right foot into the container of oil! Needless to say, it was no longer a dripless oil change. My only recourse was to dunk my other shoe so they would at least remain a matching pair.
